Overview
When a significant amount of content is deployed within any system, navigation can quickly become a problem for the user. The search facility can help, but in most cases it is only helpful when the user doesn't know what he or she is looking for. When the users knows what he or she wants, "drill down" is usually faster and more effective. Such a navigation system requires, however, that the content has been organized to allow the user to drill down logically and quickly using key concepts usually based on content types, dates and metadata.
Hyper.Net provides you with a sample Web Part that allows you to do this. Using this Web Part, you can pre-define the ways the user might like to search for content—for example By Category or By Date—by selecting a tab. Publications are then grouped by the selected criteria on the tab and the user can expand and collapse the view to drill down. This is an especially effective way to navigate among publications when they contain multiple renditions or numerous hypertext topics (Rich Hypertext format). Here's an example:
